Vacation in the Northwest

I'm back from a couple weeks of vacation with visiting my brother Nory in Whistler Canada and Seattle. Mom and I flew to Seattle on Jan. 8th, did the fun things and then I came back on the 24th leaving mom to stay in Seattle for the winter. She and Nory will be back mid May for more traveling here in the MidWest. I also took a short flight before coming home to visit Jonathan, my son, in Moscow, ID for a day and a half. I still have to add the pix from my whirlwind stay with JD. We had a wonderful time, visited with his friends and I watched him play hockey (his passion)

I had a wonderful time and as always the pix show it better than my words do. So here are a few new pix to show -

To get this in sequence start just above my 2008 Christmas Card.

Well, it'a about time we got comfy!!!

The dogs missed the comforts of home that's for sure, couldn't get them out of the chairs. And a month later they are still in chairs. Even though they were loved at the kennel, it did not have the comforts of home that's for sure.

Home bound at last!

This time I made my flight, leaving the Northwest behind - and arriving home at 8:45 PM

This is why I ask for a window seat every time I fly.
I was on the wrong side of the plane this time to watch the sunset, so I had to take this with zoom across the aisle.

Heading home, well almost!!

You wouldn't know it by looking at this pix from the airplane, but Pulman was closed again so I got a ride to Lewiston with one of JD's colleagues. I had to take a later flight which made me miss my scheduled flight out of SEA-TAC to Milwaukee. Nory picked me up at the airport once again; I stayed another night and headed home Sat instead.

These are clouds with mountains peeking out the top
Here are clouds, mountain tops, and water under the clouds.

Where is Jason, The Bachelor??? He lives on one of the lakes in Seattle.

Oh so beautiful

Thursday we went driving around for photo ops. The trees, shrubs, creeks, hillsides were so fascinating with the frost.

Frost crystals on top of snow
A pretty creek and hillside
Weeping Willow so beautiful with white frost branches

It was foggy with the sun trying to peak through. This is the backyard of the new house Joe and Angie are building. With the fogs/sun/snow I thought maybe it looked like Mars.
These next 5 pictures were also taken at the building site.

Hard to believe this is frost on the trees!
This is the frost on twigs, but it could pass for cotton balls.

I thought this was so interesting the way the frost crystals formed on the icicles on the barn roof with the frosted tree next to it

SLOW DOWN! We saw this deer next to the road, then while scanning the area we saw more.
Hard to see them all, but there are 5

We were once again driving around Moscow looking at all the new houses and stopped at the Medieval Castle where this fowl was walking around.

We had dinner at a Mexican restaurant (oh I do love Mexican food) with Altan, Erin, Christian, Cheyenne, and Brooklyenne along with Janel, Lar, Morgan, and Haley. I had a great time, and fell in love with them all. Sure wish I had taken a group shot. For someone who loves taking pictures and is never without a camera I don't know what I was thinking about not getting all these group photos, except I didn't want to embarass anyone.

After dinner I watched JD play hockey with 'The Old Timers' - obviously not all so old! No pix of today's hockey, but you can scroll down and see last nights hockey pictures.

Hockey

After we got into Moscow we went to eat at the BBQ place just a block away from his house - wish I had taken pix there of JD with the owners and the JD's special we had. Then he took me to the middle school where he teaches. Again, no pix - dah!!!! He introduced me around to teachers and office staff who all seem to love him if the teasing is any indication. Again, NO PIX. What was I thinking??

Then we went to his Hockey game of the day. Jonathan has a passion for playing Hockey in Moscow, through this sport he has also made many great new friends. I went to watch Hockey games on Jan 21st and 22nd. I only took pix on the 21st. Again, my pictures are taken through glass - plexiglass this time. When the game was done JD asked everyone to meet at the Ale House to meet MOM. We had a great turnout and everyone was so much fun - YES, they must love him too because the teasing never stopped. Sorry, no pix - I didn't want to embarass these people but I should have gotten them all together for a group shot.

Here is the team pix I took:

Flying to Moscow/Lewiston

Jan 21st I left Seattle to visit Jonathan (JD) in Moscow, ID for a day and a half. As we were starting our decent into Pulman airport the plane changed directions and went UP. There was too much fog in Pulman so the plane went on to Lewiston. As soon as it was known that we would not be landing there was an announcement made at the airport and JD headed down to Lewiston. He got there about 15 min. after me.

On the way back to Moscow the scenery was breath taking. From the fog/mist/frost the trees and ground were WHITE but not from snow. Well, there was some snow on the ground in some places, but the trees is not snow. I took several pictures while in a moving car - go figure - I do that all the time. Then from the middle school parking lot with a red car, red house against the trees. Is it awesome or what???? The photos that are tinted - it's from the tinted windows in JD's truck. The bottom pix I was outside.

Quilt

When I was in Seattle Nory's custom quilt (that I ordered for him during our time in Vietnam) arrived. It is beautiful!!! The colors are navy, red, and white.

Mine arrived several months ago. The quality workmanship is astounding. I love all the hand stitching on the body of the quilt. It's hard to tell, but the colors in mine are of course white with deep purple trim accents. I wish I had gone overboard with getting myself more Vietnam Quilts(http://www.vietnam-quilts.org/), like I have with making them. I do love the colors, designs, and handwork on these quilts. If I had a place to put them and display them, I would get more - they are truly beautiful). Truthfully, the cost per quilt with shipping is less than the bed size quilts I made.
